LAUSITZ, Germany - Strong demand for tickets to the season finale of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz on August 7-8 has prompted organizers of the race to expand the capacity for spectators by adding another grandstand and upgrading standing areas with high tech giant video walls, the Red Bull Air Race GmbH and EuroSpeedway Lausitz announced.
Britain's Paul Bonhomme, Austria's Hannes Arch and Nigel Lamb of Britain will be in a tense three-way battle to win the sixth Red Bull Air Race World Championship that will be decided for the first time in Germany. The race, which also marks the 50th overall in the eight-year history of the sport, will also coincide with festivities celebrating the 10th anniversary of the EuroSpeedway Lausitz, one of the most modern motor sport circuits in Europe.
The Red Bull Air Race and the EuroSpeedway Lausitz made the decision to invest in another grandstand to meet the high demand of tickets and in order to offer an upgraded category: the Silver+ category.
The grandstand M will be set up behind the standing area S guaranteeing spectators a superb view of the race action. The Gold category is nearly sold out with just under 200 Qualifying Day tickets still available for purchase. Silver, Silver+ and Bronze tickets are available here and at all selected sales points in Germany, Poland and Czech Republic.
There will also be an extensive pre-show program in the air and on the track that includes "The Flying Bulls" air display, the Red Bull Sky Dive Team and a Breitling DC3. The Flying Bulls will present planes such as B-25, F-4U Corsair and the P-38 as well as the helicopters BO-105 and Cobra. The Sky Dive Team will present spectacular jumps and formations with their parachutes, do wingsuit formations, and B.A.S.E jumps.
Also on the track fans will be treated to a VW GT 24 race touring car, a Red Bull Nascar Show Run with Smudo, a FMX Freestyle Show, Chris Pfeiffer's motorcycle stunt riding, the BMW Factory Team Superbike Show Run and the VW Dakar Rally Winners display.
