MEREWETHER, Australia - Just weeks after ending his debut Red Bull Air Race World Championship season in third place Australian pilot Matt Hall has announced two changes to his team for the 2010 season. Both veteran Technician Dennis Sawyer and Team Coordinator Damien Kinsey have moved on and will be replaced by the experienced Len Rulason and David Lyall respectively.

Sawyer has taken the opportunity to take up the vacant Technician position on Mike Goulian’s team, while Kinsey, a lawyer involved in property development, will focus on a multitude of business interests in his native Australia. Upon announcing the changes to his Matt Hall Racing team, Hall paid tribute to both Sawyer and Kinsey’s contribution to his extraordinary rookie performance. “It is with regret that both Dennis and Damien are moving on but I understand the reasons for both,” Hall said. “Dennis has been friends with Mike (Goulian) for many years and the chance to work with him was something that was obviously very attractive to both of those guys. I have spoken at length with Dennis and Mike and Dennis has volunteered to help me in the transition phase with my new technician. Like Dennis, Damien was invaluable to the success of the Matt Hall Racing team in what was a whirlwind first year of competition and I wish him all the best in his endeavours.”

In typical positive fashion Hall is looking ahead and is determined to improve the Matt Hall Racing operation across the board. “While it wasn’t in my plans when I started out to change team members I am a positive person and am looking forward optimistically to working alongside Len and David,” Hall said. “Sometimes, when one door closes another one opens and we will work to best utilitise the skills that both Len and David bring to the team. Len comes highly recommended, having worked on the Air Race with Kirby Chambliss and Steve Jones previously, while David comes to the team with a comprehensive media and public relations background and has worked with some of the highest profile athletes in Australia."

“We will have a new plane, a new team and a new set of goals for 2010. We have already started preparing and even though the 2009 season just ended I can’t wait for the new season to roll around,” Hall said.

Hall will spend the off-season based in Australia but will visit the USA to work on the development of his new MXS race plane.
