WINDSOR, Ontario - Canada’s Pete McLeod said on Thursday he was looking for a spot in the Top Four in the Windsor race after getting his first look of the race track in the training session. McLeod wants a career-best result at his home race and said he was excited that the course set up over the Detroit River was once again a challenging track that would put an emphasis on pilot skill.
McLeod, at 26 the youngest pilot in Red Bull Air Race history, got the best result of his rookie year on his home turf in front of a crowd of 215,000 a year ago and the Red Lake native said he is banking on another enthusiastic crowd to help cheer him through to a career-best result in the racing on Saturday and Sunday.
“I’m glad to be back home in Windsor,” McLeod said. “I just came back from the track. It’s interesting, a tight technical track. I’m looking forward to some more training time in the track. I’m really looking forward to the race. Last year was so awesome, the big crowd and so much energy to race at home for me. Really exciting with a party around the town. I’m looking for another best race from me in Windsor. A top four would be great.”
