LAUSITZ, Germany - The Red Bull Air Race will restart Qualifying 1 on Sunday with a full session starting at 12.30 pm and the results of the rain-interrupted Qualifying 1 session on Saturday will be deemed invalid, the Race Committee said. There will be no Qualifying 2 session. There will also be no Wild Card Session. The next round will be the Top 12.
The reason for the decision to cancel the results of the Saturday Qualifying session is due to the fact that the weather conditions on Sunday are significantly different than on Saturday. With all 14 pilots flying in Qualifying on Sunday all pilots will have the same conditions, organisers said. Only seven pilots were able to fly on Saturday before rain interrupted the Qualifying session on Saturday.
