As a global sponsor of the Red Bull Air Race, the German automaker presents itself as an automobile partner of this one-of-a-kind motor sports competition in the air.

Under the motto ‘Volkswagen – Das Auto’ the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand offers a broad product range designed to meet the most diverse mobility needs. Apart from the bestselling Golf the brand’s most important models also include the new Polo, which was named "Car of the Year 2010", and the Passat.

With "Think Blue.“ - a campaign for efficient driving and environmental awareness - Volkswagen is sending out a new signal for sustainable mobility. Volkswagen Passenger Cars produced 3.8 million vehicles in 2009. Deliveries to customers worldwide rose to 3.9 million.

Alongside the global sponsoring of the Red Bull Air Race, Volkswagen is also engaged as team sponsor of the German pilot Matthias Dolderer. He competes with the logo of the Wolfsburg automaker on his new state-of-the-art airplane, in the air for the New York race onwards.

The Volkswagen and Red Bull brands have been active as partners in high-performance sports events for six years running. Since 2004, the two brands have been constant companion of the successful Race Touareg team that scored a triple victory at the world’s hardest marathon rally, the Dakar, just this January.

The partners are now extending their successful cooperation even further: Volkswagen, in its turn, uses the global stage of the Red Bull Air Race as a global sponsor in order to present its sportiest models to a broader public.

“Motor sports—both on land and in the air—stands for sports competition and technological innovation alike. Precisely these attributes also apply to our sports models,” says Jörn Hinrichs, Head of Experience Marketing at Volkswagen. “At Volkswagen, we have a tradition of supporting attractive, customer-oriented and emotional events. Hence the Red Bull Air Race constitutes the ideal environment to present our brand and our sports models, like the Scirocco-R, to a wider public.”
