- About this Video
- Alejandro Maclean of Spain is determined to finally break into the upper echelon of the Red Bull Air Race in 2009 after four seasons of middle-of-the-pack finishes mixed with the occasional flash of brilliance for the highly competitive man from Madrid. He got a career high 2nd place in Brazil in 2007 and just missed the podium in 2008 with 4th place in Perth. He regards his seasons so far as a “positive learning process” and is ready to move up the rankings in 2009. Maclean, who got his decidedly un-Spanish name and blue eyes from a Scottish grandfather, switched planes in 2007. But swapping the Edge 540 for the MXS-R did not deliver the immediate results he was hoping for and instead of rising he fell towards the bottom of the standings. His strong 4th in Perth nevertheless rescued his season and gave him cause for optimism about 2009.
