About this Video: Austrias Hannes Arch rallied from behind to post the fastest time in Qualifying on Saturday for the Red Bull Air Race World Championship on Sunday in San Diego and collected the one point up for grabs to widen his lead atop the standings over rival Paul Bonhomme. The British ace had posted the fastest time in the first Qualifying session flown just metres above San Diego Bay in front of a crowd of 50,000 spectators but Arch, who was only in fourth after Q1, opened the throttle in Q2 to rocket past Bonhomme with a time of 1:18.42. That was four seconds faster than his penalty-marred first run and a massive 2.20 seconds ahead of Bonhomme, who had to settle for second. Peter Besenyei of Hungary grabbed third. Kirby Chambliss, the 2006 World Champion who took third place here a year ago, gave the big home crowd something to cheer about by taking sixth in Qualifying, putting him within striking range of landing on the podium on Sunday. Im really pleased to take the extra point from Qualifying, said Arch, who like the other 14 pilots had to contend with low-lying clouds in the second Qualifying session. Its really important as we only have six races this year so to win the championship you have to stay on top from Qualifying. Its great. We were more than two seconds in front and the others were really fast.
