British pilot finishes top of today’s sessions

The Challenger Class is becoming more competitive

Ben Murphy was the top contender at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz today when he topped the timesheets in Free Practice 1 and 2. In an emphatic display of flying skill, Murphy was the only pilot to break the 1:04 mark, posting a time of 1:03.891.

American pilot Kevin Coleman, who along with Murphy is in his debut season, was second, only 0.342s off the leader in Free Practice 2. Cristian Bolton was third in the second session of the day, with German pilot Florian Bérger in fourth.

Due to the Budapest race being rescheduled and taking place on Saturday, all eight Challenger Class pilots have been flying in the Free Practice sessions. There will be two Challenger Class races this weekend. The Budapest race will take place on Saturday with the Lausitz race on Sunday.

In Free Practice 1 Ben Murphy stormed through the track with a time of 1:05.304 confirming that the British pilot prefers land-based tracks. Murphy was closely followed by Daniel Ryfa who was just 0.154s behind. Florian Bérger was third with Kevin Coleman finishing in fourth with a time of 1:06.008.

The Challenger Class is becoming more and more competitive. In both sessions the top four pilots all finished under 0.75s apart.
