Can Ivanoff win in San Diego again?

The French pilot won here in 2009 but will history repeat itself?

A focused Ivanoff

"It's not the case that because you won in a location before that it will happen again – look at Abu Dhabi," says Nicolas Ivanoff when asked if he could win in San Diego again. "But of course, I'd want it to happen," he adds.

When the Red Bull Air Race was last in San Diego it was Ivanoff who took the spoils, winning by over a second. He has had a lot of success in the American tracks with 40 per cent of his career wins having taken place in the United States.

"I'm excited to get back in the track," says Ivanoff. He's had a lot of time in his raceplane since Abu Dhabi and feels that he is more prepared than ever for a race. "I've been training and working on my vertical turning manoeuvres, trying to correct the mistake I made in Abu Dhabi. I've been flying to make them as tight as possible. I can't wait to see how I do when I'm in the Free Practice sessions," he explains.

Ivanoff is one of the most experienced pilots in the Red Bull Air Race. He has been racing in the Championship since 2004 and enjoys flying in the States. "We've had a lot of success in the American races before and I want to do it again," he concludes.
