SPIELBERG

Red Bull Air Race Spielberg

The famous Red Bull Ring in Spielberg is set to host a third instalment of the Red Bull Air Race in 2016, having previously hosted the season finale in 2014 and a mid-season showdown in 2015. The venue sits within the Styrian mountains – home to former World Champion Hannes Arch – and provides a stunning backdrop to what is sure to be an action-packed racing spectacle.

The site of the Red Bull Ring has a long history of motorsports, known worldwide as a Formula One venue for 18 consecutive years throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Having undergone huge renovations and adopting a new name, the new state-of-the-art Red Bull Ring racetrack hosted the DTM series in 2011, welcoming back Formula One in June 2014 for the Austrian Grand Prix and once again in 2015.

Built on the site of the Österreichring and latterly the A1 Ring, the Red Bull Ring sits amongst the Styrian mountains, surrounded by stunning alpine scenery in the 'green heart' of Austria.

The Red Bull Ring saw Matt Hall take his first ever Red Bull Air Race World Championship win in 2015, with France's Nicolas Ivanoff taking the race win at the season finale the year before. It's a challenging track for drivers and pilots alike; the racetrack is famous for its uphill run from Turn One, with tricky and tight curves and a short but super-fast circuit.
